Grrr... kids!

It's 10:48 pm, and 2 of my kids are outside on the woodpile, loading it into the wagon, and getting it down into the basement for winter.

Does that sound odd? That my kids would be working at this time of night doing such a thing? We're calling it 'creative discipline.'

We had company tonight, and just about when it was time for them to leave, 2 of my kids decided to get into a scuffle. I heard the slap as I came down the stairs. The younger one ended up with a bloody lip. It's not the first scuffle of the day even, but this slapping/punching thing is all new. Slaps & punches - unacceptable behavior, period. There's 6 years between these kids, and the older one should really do better at handling the situation, rather than getting physical. (Younger one 'irritates' the older one 'he's so annoying...' blah blah blah.

So... DH sent them out to the woodpile. They've been out there for almost 2 hours, working together. I haven't heard a peep out of them. Oh they're going to sleep good tonight!

You parents of young children... the fun is only beginning...

I love it! We encourage child labour in our house. Keeps em busy and they sleep well. Good job momma!

Thanks for your comment..... As usual it always leaves me with a smile.

Sounds totally reasonable to me! Cull is 10.5. Talking-back gets him liquid soap in the mouth AND standing with his nose of the outside corner of a wall WITH a large can of veggies in each hand, arms extended straight out to the sides. Sorry for the drama at your place tonight!

i thought i'd figured out who you are... but no... no, i haven't and that will be what drives me to drink....so, whatever, bottoms up...

maybe i should get out to the ole woodpile, but in my neck of the woods, there is no reason for a woodpile... unfortunately

We have used this particular discipline before. It works great but sometimes I hear a few comments such as "oops, I didn't mean to drop that on your foot". Still gets the work done!
